Some interesting news out of the backyard here in Boulder, Colorado is that Nobel Prize winner Tom Cech, Ph.D. has been appointed as Special Advisor to the Morgenthaler Ventures Life Science Team, assisting Partners in the identification and review of new investment opportunities. Dr. Cech stepped down as President of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in April 2009 and returned to Colorado to direct the University of Colorado’s Initiative of Molecular Biotechnology.
On the heels of yesterday’s successful “How to Become a VC Magnet” industry panel where Partners from 5AM Ventures and Mohr Davidow Ventures among others were featured, the San Jose Biocenter is queuing up next the Meet With… series con Amgen on 22 April. This is a fantastic platform where early-stage entities are able to identify appropriate individuals to contact within an organization. Then on 3 June an industry panel on Financing Alternatives is scheduled where the expectation is nothing but a candid, interactive and informal exchange of information is to be assured.
