Participants include Sanderling Ventures, Burrill & Co., American Bailey Ventures, Blue Chip Venture Co. and Triathlon Medical Ventures.

arGEN-X (The Netherlands) a development-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on a monoclonal antibody platform and potential applications in oncology and infectious disease, closed a $13.8M Series A financing. Participants include Forbion Capital Partners, Life Science Partners, KBC Private Equity, BioGeneration Ventures, Erasmus MC Biomedical Fund and Thuja Capital Healthcare.

NanoBio (Ann Arbor, MA) a clinical-stage company focused on topical antiinfectives and mucosal vaccines for the treatment and prevention of herpes labialis, onychomycosis, acne and cystic fibrosis closed a $10M Series B financing, bringing the total round to $22M. Participants include Perseus.

Avila Therapeutics (Waltham, MA) a preclinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on protein silencing drugs for viral infections, cancer and autoimmune diseases, closed a $30M Series B financing. Participants include Novartis Option Fund, Abingworth Management, Advent Venture Partners, Atlas Venture and Polaris Venture Partners.

Alios BioPharma (San Francisco, CA) a preclinical-stage small molecule and protein therapeutics company focused on viral disease via innate immune modulation, closed a $8M Series A financing bring the total round to $32M. Participants include SR One, Novo Ventures, Novartis Venture Fund and Roche Venture Fund.

Intrexon (Blacksburg, VA) a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on modular inducible cancer immunotherapeutics, closed a $10M Series C bring the total round financing to date of $35M. Participants include New River Management.

Zymeworks (Canada) a development-stage computational biotechnology company focused on optimizing therapeutic antibodies and other protein-based therapeutics, closed a $3.5M Series C financing. Participants include CTI Life Sciences Fund.

Sagent Pharmaceuticals (Schaumberg, Illinois) commercial-stage specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing, manufacturing, sourcing and marketing pharmaceutical products, with a specific emphasis on injectable products, closed a $30M Series A financing, bringing the total round to $113M. Participants include Vivo Ventures.

Molecular Templates (Austin, TX) a preclinical-stage company focused on a protein platform for the development of melanoma and other oncology therapeutics, closed a $2.5M Series A financing. Participants include Santé Ventures.

SFJ Pharmaceuticals (Pleasonton, CA) an entity designed to introduce approved drugs and Phase III candidates U.S. and European markets Japan, closed a $45M Series A financing. Participants include Abingworth Management and Clarus Ventures.
