ConforMIS (Burlington, MA) a commercial-stage medical device company focused on personalized resurfacing implants, osteoarthritis treatment and joint damage, closed a $50M Series D financing. Participants include Aeris Capital and previous investors.

Active Implants (Memphis, TN) a development-stage company focused on medical grade polycarbonate urethane for hip and knee orthopedic implants, closed a $10M Series C financing. Participants in the round were not identified.

Orthopaedic Synergy (Raynham, MA) a reorganized holding company comprised of Omni Life Science and Enztec focused on developing devices for the orthopaedic market, closed a $4.8M Series A financing. Participants include Pioneer Capital Partners and Birnie Capital Partners.

Core Essence Orthopaedics (Yardley, PA) medical device company focused on soft tissue and skeletal repair, closed a $5M financing. Participants include NewSpring Capital.

OrthoHelix Surgical Devices (Akron, Ohio) developer of medical devices for use in hand and foot reconstructive surgery, closed a $7.3M Series C financing. Participants include River Cities Capital Funds and Mutual Capital Partners.

IlluminOss Medical, Inc. (Providence, RI) development-stage medical device company focused on minimally invasive orthopedic surgery systems, closed a $11M Series B financing. Participants include New Leaf Venture Partners, Foundation Medical Partners and Mieza Capital.

Ascension Orthopedics (Austin, TX) developer of surgical implants for joint replacement, trauma and tissue regeneration closed a $21M Series D financing, Participants include return investor Frazier Healthcare Ventures.

Cayenne Medical (Scottsdale, AZ) medical device company focused on ACL fixation raised $12.7M in Series B funding. Participants included Split Rock Partners and MB Venture Partners.

MAKO Surgical (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) developer of a guidance system that aids in surgery for early-stage osteoarthritis of the knee raised $30 million in Series C funding. Investors included Tudor Investment Corp., Ziegler Meditech Equity Partners, The Exxel Group, MDS Capital, Aperture Venture Partners, Ivy Healthcare Capital and Sycamore Ventures.

iBalance Medical (Boulder, CO) a developer of axial knee realignment systems, has expanded its Series A round to a total of $13.5M. Return backers include Sutter Hill Venture Partners and Skyline Ventures.
