Evolva (Switzerland) a clinical-stage synthetic biology small molecule company focused on proteinuri kidney and cardiovascular disease, closed a $27,5M Series B financing. Participants include Wellington Partners Venture Capital, Aravis Venture Associates, Auriga Partners and Vinci Capital.

Celladon (La Jolla, CA) a clinical-stage company focused on gene therapy for congestive heart failure, closed a $21.8M Series C financing. Participants include Enterprise Partners Venture Capital, Venrock and Johnson & Johnson Dev Corp.

Arginetix (Baltimore, MD) a preclinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on the small molecule inhibition of arginase for pulmonary arterial hypertension, closed a $4.6M Series B financing. Participants include Quaker BioVentures, MedImmune Ventures, Red Abbey Venture Partners, Maryland Health Care Product Development Corp. and Acidophil.

miRagen Therapeutics (Boulder, CO) a preclinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of miRNA therapeutics for cardiovascular and muscle diseases, closed a $4 Series B, bringing the total round financing to $12M. Participants include Boulder Ventures, Amgen Ventures, Broadview Ventures, The Peierls Foundation and Atlas Venture.

Surface Logix (Brighton, MA) a clinical-stage small molecule company focused on metabolic and cardiovascular disease, closed a $15M Series E financing. Participants include ARCH Venture Partners, HBM BioVentures, Healthcare Focus, Intel Capital, Saudi Venture Development Co., Unilever Technology Ventures and Venrock.

Ardian (Palo Alto, CA) a clinical-stage medical device company focused on catheter-based treatment for hypertension, chronic kidney disease and heart failure, closed a $47M Series C financing. Participants include Medtronic, Emergent Medical Partners, Advanced Technology Ventures, Morgenthaler Ventures and Split Rock Partners.

Relypsa (Santa Clara, CA) a clinical-stage developer of a therapeutic for hyperkalemia in congestive heart failure patients closed a $10M Series A financing, the final tranche of the $43M round. Participants include 5AM Ventures, New Leaf Partners, Sprout Group, Delphi Ventures, CMEA Ventures and Mediphase Venture Partners.

Crux Biomedical (Menlo Park, CA) a clinical-stage is developing an implantable vascular device that offers potential improvement over existing inferior vena cava filter filters for treating and preventing pulmonary embolisms, closed an $8M Series B financing. Participants include Alloy Ventures and 1963 inventor of the balloon embolectomy catheter Thomas Fogarty.

Cardio3 BioSciences (Belgium) an early-stage company specialising in stem cell-based
therapies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, closed a $9.3M Series B financing. Participants include Hunza Ventures, Life Science Research Partners and Grifols.

7TM Pharma (Denmark) a clinical-stage company focused on discovery and development of therapeutics for metabolic diseases including obesity and cardiovascular diseases, closed a $15M Series E financing. Participants include Novo, Alta Partners, LD Pensions, Index Ventures, Johnson & Johnson Development Corp, Sofinnova Capital, Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie, SR One, Global Life Science Ventures, [...]

Rcadia Medical Imaging (Israel) developer of image processing based software products for blood vessel analysis closed a $3.3M Series B financing. Participants include BioVentures Investors and 20/20 HealthCare Partners.

Arete Therapeutics (Hayward, CA) clinical-stage biotechnology company developing soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitor small molecule drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular, metabolic and inflammatory diseases, closed a $51M Series A financing. Participants include Frazier Healthcare Ventures, Alta Partners, Burrill & Co., Three Arch Partners, and Altitude Life Science Ventures.
