Mpex Pharmaceuticals (San Diego, CA) a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on antibiotic therapy in patients with cystic fibrosis and COPD, closed a $27.5M Series D financing. Participants include Investor Growth Capital, SV Life Sciences, HBM BioVentures, Aberdare Ventures and Adams Street Partners.

Lytix Biopharma (Norway) pre-clinical developer of lytic peptide drugs for the treatment of resistant bacterial, fungal infections and tumor progression, closed a $10.4M Series D financing.
Participants in financings have included Picasso Kapital, Såkorninvest Nord, Norinnova, Sparebanken Nord-Norge Invest, Serepta, Rekdal, Svendsen, Norinnova Invest and Taj Holding.

Affinium Pharmaceuticals (Canada) who is developing a new class of antibiotics targeting staph infections closed an $18M Series A financing. The deal was lead by Forward Ventures along with Oxford Bioscience , SV Life Sciences and Genesys Capital Partners.

Tirus Therapeutics (San Diego, CA) a biopharmaceutical company developing next generation antibacterial drugs closed a $20M Series A round. The deal was led by Sofinnova Ventures and joined by InterWest Partners, Prism VentureWorks and Versant Ventures.

Trius Therapeutics (San Diego, CA) a developer of antibacterial drugs for the treatment of a broad range of infections, raised $20M Series A financing,, The round was led by Sofinnova Ventures, InterWest Partners, Prism VentureWorks and Versant Ventures.

Targanta (Cambridge, MA) developer of antibacterial pro-drugs raised closed a $70M Series C financing led by Brookside Capital, Skyline Ventures, Radius and OrbiMed Advisors. Existing investors Seaflower Ventures, VenGrowth and the Canadian Medical Discoveries Fund also participated.
