Apnex Medical (St. Paul, MN) a clinical-stage medical device company developing an implantable treatment for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea, closed a $14M Series B financing. Participants include Domain Associates, New Enterprise Associates and Polaris Venture Partners.

Entellus Medical (Maple Grove, MN) a commercial-stage medical device company focused on the treatment for chronic sinusitis, closed a $30M Series D financing. Participants include Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, Split Rock Partners and SV Life Sciences.

Endocyte (West Lafayette, IN) a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical focused on folate-receptor targeted receptors in ovarian, NSCLC and breast cancers and renal cell carcinoma, closed a $26M Series B financing. Participants include Sanderling Ventures, Burrill & Co., American Bailey Ventures, Blue Chip Venture Co. and Triathlon Medical Ventures.

Akebia Therapeutics (Cincinnati, OH) a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of small-molecules for anemia and vascular disease, closed a $16M Series A bringing the total financing to $25M. Participants include Novartis Venture Fund, Venture Investors, Triathlon Medical Ventures, Kearny Venture Partners, Athenian Venture Partners and Sigvion Capital.

ProCertus BioPharm (Madison, WI) a clinical-stage developer of treatments to combat the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, e.g. alopecia, dermatitis and oral mucositis, closed a $2.1M Series A. Participants include Novartis Venture Fund and Venture Investors.

Accuri Cytometers (Ann Arbor, MI) a commercial-stage device company focused on cell analysis flow cytometry, closed a $4M Series D financing. Participants include InvestMichigan-Credit Suisse, Fidelity Biosciences, Flagship Ventures, Baird Venture Partners and Arboretum Ventures.

NewLink Genetics (Ames, IA) a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on lung and pancreatic cancers, closed a $7.5M Series D financing. Prior investors have included Iowa Capital Group, Ames Seed Capital, Chicagoland Investors, Midwest Oilseeds and NLG Advisors.

Anulex Technologies (Minnetonka, MN) a commercial-stage medical device company focused on herniated discectomy procedures, closed a $10.2M Series D financing. Inspire Medical Systems (Minneapolis, MN) an early-stage medical device company developing an implantable therapeutic device for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, closed a $17M Series B financing. Participants include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Medtronic and U.S. Venture Partners.
