Participants include Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Westly Group, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Cyrus Capital Partners, Angeleno Group, Element Partners, Morgan Stanley, Advanced Equities, Omninet and Nimes Capital.

Genomatica (San Diego, CA) a development-stage biofuel company focused on methods for adaptive evolution of microbes to achieve optimal performance under process conditions to produce industrial chemicals from carbohydrates, closed a $15M Series C financing. Participants include TPG Biotech, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Alloy Ventures and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Aurora Biofuels (Alameda, CA) a development-stage biofuels company leveraging a rapid and high yield algae production, closed a $15M Series C financing. Participants include Oak Investment Partners, Gabriel Venture Partners and Noventi Ventures.

LS9 (San Carlos, CA) a development-stage biofuels company focused on synthetic biology fermentation approach to convert renewable feedstocks to petroleum equivalents, closed a $25M Series C financing. Participants include CTTV Investments, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Flagship Ventures and Khosla Ventures.

Amyris Biotechnologies (Emeryville, CA) a development-stage biofuels company focused on metabolic pathway transformations of plant-based feedstocks into different isoprenoids, closed a $24.8M Series C financing. Participants include Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, DAG Ventures and TPGBiotech.

Solazyme (San Francisco, CA) a development-stage biofuels company focused on the bioproduction of microalgae molecules for the energy, chemical, and nutraceutical industries, closed a $57M Series C financing. Participants include Braemar Energy Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, VantagePoint Venture Partners, Roda Group and Harris & Harris Group.

HCL Clean Tech (Israel) an early-stage biofuels company working to convert lignocellulosic biomass to fermentable sugars, closed a $5.5M Series A financing. Participants include Burrill & Co. and Khosla Ventures.

Glycos Biotechnologies (Houston, TX) a development-stage biofuels company focused on production of intermediate chemicals for biodegradable, non-degradable plastics, surfactants and fuels, closed a $5M Series A financing. Participants include Draper Fisher Jurvetson and DFJ Mercury.

OPX Biotechnologies (Boulder, CO) a research-stage biofuels company using synthetic biology to engineer the microbes as a renewable fuel source, added to their Series B financing bringing the round up to $17.5M. Participants include Braemar Energy Ventures, Altira Group, Mohr Davidow Ventures and X/Seed Capital.

OPX Biotechnologies (Boulder, CO) a research-stage biofuels company using synthetic biology to engineer the microbes as a renewable fuel source closed a $12.1M Series B financing. Participants include Braemar Energy Ventures, Mohr Davidow Ventures and X/Seed Capital.
