Quanta Fluid Solutions (United Kingdom) a development-stage medical device company focused on haemodialysis systems for acute renal failure, has closed a $14.3M Series A financing. Participants include NBGI Ventures, Seroba Kernel Life Sciences, Wellington Partners Venture Capital and Brains-To-Ventures.

Calypso Medical Technologies (Seattle, WA) a commercial-stage medical device company focused on implantable sensor electromagnetic transponders, to accurately and continuously pinpoint the location of tumors in real-time during radiation therapy delivery, closed a $50M Series E financing. Participants include Skyline Ventures, Frazier Healthcare Ventures, Bay City Capital and InterWest Partners.

NextBio (Cupertino, CA) a commercial-stage bioinformatics and competitive intelligence bioscience search engine, closed a $8M Series C financing. Participants include Newbury Ventures.

Seaside Therapeutics (Cambridge, MA) a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on autism and Fragile X syndrome, closed a $30M Series A financing. Participants were not identified.

Juvaris BioTherapeutics (Pleasanton, CA) a clinical-stage biopharma company focused on adjuvanted vaccines for seasonal flu and immunotherapeutics for Leukemia and animal health, closed a $12.5M Series B financing. Participants include SV Life Sciences and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

PharmAbcine (South Korea) a development-stage biopharma company focused on the development of monoclonal antibodies for cancer and inflammatory disease, closed a $6M Series A financing. Participants include OrbiMed, Novartis Venture Fund, Green Cross, Tong Yang Venture Capital and Saehan Venture Fund.

Virtual Ports (Israel) a commercial-stage medical device company focused on an internal retractor for laproscopic procedures and other endoscopic surgical tools, closed a $2.6M Series A financing. Participants include Virginia Life Science Investments and Skywalker Ventures.

Alvine Pharmaceuticals (San Carlos, CA) a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on autoimmune related GI disease such as Celiac disease, closed a $21.5M financing bringing the total round to $47.5M. Participants include Panorama Capital, InterWest Partners, Prospect Venture Partners, Sofinnova Ventures, Black River Asset Management and Flagship Ventures.

Arginetix (Baltimore, MD) a preclinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on the small molecule inhibition of arginase for pulmonary arterial hypertension, closed a $4.6M Series B financing. Participants include Quaker BioVentures, MedImmune Ventures, Red Abbey Venture Partners, Maryland Health Care Product Development Corp. and Acidophil.
